The Newborough School Board is comprised of parents and community members, staff members and the Principal of the school. The School Board is formed with the fundamental purpose of enabling parents and members of the community to engage in activities that are in the best interests of students and that will enhance the education provided by the school.

The Board generally meets at 5:00pm in the Meeting Room (Room 17) on the Monday of Week 4 and Week 9 each term.
Members are expected to attend all meeting and abide by the Board 'Code of Conduct'.
Board members take part in:
Establishing and reviewing the school’s objectives, priorities and general policy directions
Planning of financial arrangements to fund those objectives, priorities and directions
Evaluate the performance in achieving them; and
Formulate codes of conducts for students.
Sign off on the Delivery and Performance Agreement with the Director General.
Determine dress code for students when attending or representing the school.
Promote the school in the community.
Approve:
Charges and contributions
Extra cost optional components of educational programs
Items to be supplied by a student for personal use in an educational program; and
Agreements or arrangements for advertising or sponsorship in relation to the school
Provide advice to the Principal on the implementation of religious education and religious activities
Take part in the selection of the Principal and may be involved in the selection of teaching staff.
The School Board does not take part in the day to day management of the school or its staff including:
Operational management of the school
Educational instruction of students
Exercising authority over teaching staff or employees at the school, or
Intervene in the management or operation of a school fund.
