MiniLit Literacy Intervention Program

Newborough Primary School provides a Macquarie University literacy support program Pre-primary and Year One called MiniLit since 2015. The MiniLit Program focusses on the key elements of early reading programs: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development and text comprehension.

The program is timetabled for 3 days per week. One fully trained facilitator coordinates the programs. MiniLit children generally attend for 35 minutes, 3 days a week.

A purposeful room provides a comfortable learning environment for the children. It is well resourced with MiniLit resources and recommended reading book series to support the programs.
