Voluntary Contributions 2024
Thank you to the families who have paid their voluntary contributions for 2024 – while contributions are voluntary, the quality of our teaching and learning programs are directly enhanced by your contribution, which is used to supplement consumables and resources in all curriculum areas. Your contributions help the school replace old classroom resources and provide better learning experiences for your children.
In collaboration with the School Board, we’ve been exploring new methods for the school to communicate with families and share regular updates and positive news. We’re excited to trial a private, closed Facebook Group exclusively for current staff, parents, and carers of current students. This group will not be open to extended family members (unless they are legal guardians) or former staff and students. Participation in the group is voluntary. Please click on the link below which will take you to the group and click on “join group”.
Planning for 2025
Early next term we will commence our planning for 2025. Please let the school know as soon as possible if you are not returning to Newborough for 2025 so we can adjust our student enrolment numbers accordingly.
After School Play
We are still encountering some challenges with students using the playground area after school. We kindly ask for families' help in addressing these issues, as we may need to reconsider after-school playground access if they continue. It’s concerning to see that inadequate supervision is leading to behaviours like playing in unsafe areas, misusing equipment, excessive noise, banging on windows, touching staff belongings, running on benches, and wrestling. While we appreciate the community spirit that after-school play brings, it’s crucial for us to work together to ensure everyone’s safety. This will allow our staff to focus on their important work without additional concerns. We hope we can collaborate as a community to follow the Newborough Way guidelines and create a safe and positive environment for all.

Year 5/6 Enterprise Fete and Free Dress Day
You may have heard from your children or have seen it in the school calendar that our ‘Year 5/6 Enterprise Fete and Free Dress Day’ is fast approaching. As part of our Year 5 & 6 ‘Economics and Business’ curriculum, our students will be operating stalls at our fete to be held on Tuesday 10th September in Week 9. This day will also be a Free Dress Day for all students with a gold coin donation. The theme for the Free Dress Day is ‘Come as Your Hero’ and we are excited to see mini role models, sports stars, music icons, amazing actors and actresses and superheroes bustling around our fete stalls. Keep your eyes peeled for posters around the school with more information!
While students will be visiting the fete during class time, they are welcome to stay after school with parent supervision. We are asking that parents and community members come through the gates to join us from 2:00pm until close at 2:30pm.
The fete has been a huge success in previous years, with profits subsidising the costs of the graduation events for both year groups. It is very exciting and motivating for our students, and we look forward to having the school community visit us on the day. We are asking our community to raid piggy banks, their parent’s coin stash, do odd jobs and whatever else they can to bring as many coins as possible to spend at our stalls. Unfortunately, we have a limited ability to provide change for notes, so we suggest changing these for coins at your local supermarket or car wash if possible.
We look forward to seeing you there!
